Big Girl Bed in the making

So "I"  is 28 months old now.  Several months older than my other three where when they got their big kid beds.   Admittedly she is a little bit delayed in her development (although catching up nicely), but even with a 6 month delay she'll be needing that big kid bed soon.   So in following with our trend here, we are making a new bed set that will match the others.  I kind of wish I had found a nicer style bed to start emulated ages ago, but oh well.   These beds are incredibly sturdy, simple, and fairly easy to build.   And who knows.... the kids may one day even take them to college with them.   So in the style of old CARGO set I'm making a bunk bed/ lofted bed set for "E", and "I" will be getting her single bed.   I'm half way through the construction.   I made a lofted riser last time for "H" when she lost her room to the then expected baby.  Now both "E" and "H" will have lofted beds in there shared room allowing them each to have an area that is just theirs.  I'm pleased with the progress, but these suckers are heavy, and so it's hard to work on them by myself.   Here is the progress so far.
A pile of lumber as the project begins
They have all been cut and glued into 3 plank frame sections.

The frames have been trimmed and fitted together
The plywood panels are cut, sanded and inserted, and everything is glued up.
The frames are sanded and all the edges are rounded with the router.

Forgotten

So I was randomly considering starting a blog today.   Felt I had a lot of thoughts floating around in my head that needed a place to land  So I went to a friends blog and clicked a link on the bottom to get started.   And to my delight and surprise a blog came right up in my name all ready to go.   I completely forgot this blog even existed.    It was nice to read through the first two tiny posts to see how much has changed in the past few years.  I deleted them because I just couldn't think of how to segway from there to here, but it was still a fun tiny time capsule.  So here I am considering starting it up again, but unwilling to put that much of myself out for the public to see.   We'll see what happens from here.

Introduction

Hello, My name is Laura.   I'm a mother to 4 kids.    I am lucky enough to stay home for my kids, and in turn they keep me very very busy.   I love making and doing things for them (unless it's cooking, I'm not a fan or cooking).   And I enjoy the challenges that come up with everyday life and keeping things going.

My four kids are:  My son B. age 11,  and my three daughters E. age almost 9, H. age 7, and I. age 2.  I haven't decided yet weather or not I want to mention them by name here.    :)   So just humor me for now.

I am not much of a writer, but I love to make and do.   So expect this blog to be full of pictures, projects, and possibly just some of the humor and adventures of parent hood.
